About

DIANE is a research team of students from the technical university of Dresden who develop an inflatable dipole antenna. The team is supported by the so called REXUS/BEXUS programme (Rocket/Ballon EXperiment for University Students). Every year they chose 8 teams from Europe who can put their experiments into a rocket and send it into the thermosphere.
The antenna will be made of thin textile material and folded in a small volume.  After rocket launch, nosecone and motor separation, we deploy our antenna by inflation in reduced gravity environment. We also will monitor the inflation process using two cameras to analyze the behavior of deployment and unexpected dynamics.
Inside the CubeSat module there is a transmitter unit that will sind test signals within amateur radio band during the flight. As this signal propagates between ionosphere layers we want to know how far it propagates. Therefore we ask the amateur radio community around the world to receive this signal at a certain time.
